Task 1: Employability in accounting profession
Select an employer of accounting graduates in the gulf region. By undertaking
appropriate research, explain their process of selection and recruitment
and the skills and attributes that are required to successfully obtain a
graduate position with this employer. You may choose an employer who has
visited Muscat University to give a presentation (either face to face or online) to
students OR choose another organisation which employs accounting graduates
which you might be interested in applying to in the future for a graduate position.

Task 2: Professional accounting bodies
Identify TWO of the leading professional accounting bodies in the gulf region.
By undertaking appropriate research briefly compare the requirements
for becoming full member of each body and the key continuing rights,
benefits and obligations associated with membership of each body.

Task 3: Careers & Placements (CV360 and
Psychometric testing)
You are required to find an online vacancy you would consider applying for.
You are required to prepare a CV tailored to this job and upload it to CV360
which will grade your CV the CV is Fail/Pass task. There are 56 checks which
will be converted to a percentage.
In order to pass, students must achieve:
A minimum of 95%
Zero fails
Not exceed 200 words to provide justification for any dismissals used
After you have uploaded your CV into the CV360 tool, you will see feedback on
your CV. You need to pass 53 out of 56 of the checks to score 95%. Checks
that you have failed can be dismissed. Students should write a paragraph (200
words) justifying and reflecting on why they dismissed a check. The paragraph
must fully justify the reasons behind any dismissals used. (you are advised not
to dismiss more than six checks, justifying more than six dismissed checks
could result in a weak and invalid justification)
You are required to (1) scan screen shot of job vacancy and screen shot of
CV360 feedback cover report along with up to 200 words justifying any
dismissed checks. (2) You are required to upload at least one Graduates
First numerical reasoning psychometric test results (provided by
Careers+Placements)

Task 4: Candidate value proposition
Choose an accountancy firm or other organisation which employs accounting graduates. Write
an extract from the cover letter which would accompany your application for a role in that
organisation in which you provide your ‘value proposition’.
This should include an explanation of the following:
1. Why you are interested in the role and the employer organisation.
2. Why you believe you are suited to the role.
3. How you differentiate yourself from rest of the candidates.
4. How you add value to this job role and employer organisation.

Task: Critical Reflection
Provide a critical reflection (1000 words) on what you have learned during the
module. Drawing on specific examples and events arising during the module
e.g. (Team working, Leadership, presentation skills, and Interpersonal skills)

1. The understanding and development of skills that might be required for
your future career.
2. An assessment of the extent to which you have acquired the skills
required.
3. An explanation of how you plan to enhance/improve the skills required.
