Scenario

You are a senior accountant for a CPA firm, and the owner of one of your small retail clients is concerned because they have noticed discrepancies on product returns. The owner has found that managers are keeping returned products and selling them on the side, instead of discarding the product or returning it to the shelf. The owner has asked you how often fraudlike this happens. To address the owner’s concerns, you decide to research an example of a real-world case of fraud and create a presentation sharing your findings with the owner.

The skills practiced in this assignment will help to support your work in Project Two.

Directions

Using the template provided in the What to Submit section, create a PowerPoint presentation that shares your findings of an example of a real-world case of fraud that occurred in the last five years. Consider selecting a case from your home state or a case that interests you.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

Describe the fraud that occurred.

Explain the impact and scopeof the fraud within the organization.

Determine the importanceof prevention strategies in mitigating fraud.
