How to write a book review

A book review is a type of literary criticism in which a book is simply summarized or critiqued on the basis of its substance, style, and worth. A book review might be a primary source, an opinion article, a synopsis, or an academic review.

There will always be readers who are curious in what you thought of the novels you’ve read. People will discover new books that are ideal for them if you share your honest and thorough ideas, regardless of whether you enjoyed the book or not.

Imagine you’re speaking to someone who is asking you whether they should read the book if you’re having trouble coming up with what to say in a review.

   Begin by briefly introducing the topic of the book. 

But without exposing any story twists or spoilers! As a general guideline, avoid writing in depth about anything that occurs after the middle of the book. If the book is part of a series, indicate that, as well as whether you believe you’d need to have read the previous novels in the series to appreciate this one.

2. Discuss what you loved most about the book. 

Concentrate on your feelings and ideas regarding the narrative and its presentation. You could try responding to a few of the following queries:

1. Which character was your favorite, and why?

2. Did you find the characters to be believable?

3. Did you enjoy the story’s suspense?

4. Which section of the book was your favorite, and why?

5. Were specific sorts of situations written particularly well, such as sorrowful sequences, stressful scenes, mystery scenes, and so on?

6. Did you laugh or weep when reading the book?

7. Did the tale hold your attention and keep you turning the pages?

3. List any flaws you found in the book. 

Discuss why you believe it did not work for you. As an example:

1. Did you wish the conclusion hadn’t been a cliffhanger because it irritated you?

2. Could you explain why you found it difficult to care for a primary character?

3. Was the narrative too frightening for you, or did it focus on a topic you didn’t find interesting? 

4. Complete your review 

Summarize some of your opinions on the book by describing the sort of reader to whom you would recommend it. Younger readers, older readers, or fans of romantic drama/mystery stories/comedy, for example. What novels or series would you compare it to?
