Assignment Information:
You are trying to understand the sales return process at ABC Company so that you can discuss
potential improvements with the accounting and internal audit team. To do so, you have talked to
several people involved in this process and documented the process in narrative form as below:
The sales department receives a return request from a customer. The sales department then notifies
the accounting department that a return request was received and forwards the return request to the
operations manager. The accounting department looks up the invoice for the original sale and gives
the invoice to the operations manager. The operations manager temporarily files the invoice and
return request and notifies the warehouse that a return request was made. The operations manager
also sends an acknowledgement to the customer that they received the return request. After the
warehouse receives the returned goods from the customer (which can be several days later), the
warehouse counts the items and prepares a receiving report. The operations manager gets the
receiving report and compares it with the return request and original sales invoice. If there are
discrepancies, the operations manager notifies the customer. Otherwise, if there are no
discrepancies, the operations manager signs off on the return request and receiving report and
forwards them to the accounting department. The accounting department prepares a credit memo
and issues a check to the customer for the refunded amount.

Draw a business process model based on BPMN. You can use any drawing software to create the
diagram, or you can do this assignment by hand but please ensure it is clear and readable. You can
submit the diagram as a PDF file in D2L (image files may not show correctly, so please submit a
PDF file), where you will find a submission folder for the BPMN Assignment.
There is no single solution for this type of assignment. I will compare your diagram with the
narrative. You will lose 3 points for each missing or erroneous activity or event and lose 1 point
for each erroneous notation as well as illegible handwriting.
